Which Dacia Spring versions should you buy?

Our verdict for each version, based on the documented faults.

  • With caution

This is the version behind almost all of the Fiches-auto.fr reviews (68 of 73): it is worth testing AC charging with the car's own cable and asking for a battery report.[1]

  • With caution

There are only four reviews on Fiches-auto.fr, including one charging failure at 4,280 km that the dealer could not diagnose; the data is insufficient to judge it with confidence.[1]

Buy: No known serious faults, or they have already been corrected, in this version. With caution: Worth buying if something specific is verified: history, a replaced part or a completed campaign. Avoid: High risk of a serious fault that is hard to check for or prevent.

What the Dacia Spring is

The Spring (2021) uses a permanent-magnet synchronous motor of 33 kW (45 hp, Electric 45) or 48 kW (65 hp, Electric 65, from May 2023), with a 27.4 kWh gross battery (26.8 kWh usable) and single-phase AC charging at 3.7 kW, according to Wikipedia. In Europe it is built in China (Dongfeng, Wuhan).[2][3]

According to Autoheute.de, the Spring has no active battery cooling, and degradation accelerates above about 25 °C; the page gives no figures for the number of units affected.[4]

This file covers the first generation (2021-2025). The second generation, with a 27.5 kWh LFP battery and a 60 kW motor, announced for September 2026 according to Wikipedia, is outside its scope due to a lack of reliability data.[2]
