MotorFiable publishes information on known faults of engines and gearboxes in cars sold in Europe: symptoms, causes, affected versions and years, indicative repair costs and how to check for them before buying, with the sources for each piece of data.

It also lets you report faults you have experienced, request services from partners (garage quotes, extended warranties, history reports or an assessment of a claim) and buy parts from external shops through affiliate links.

Access to the website is free and requires no registration. By using it you accept these terms. You undertake to use it lawfully and, in particular, to:

• Not submit reports or requests with false data or with other people's data without their permission.
• Not include in the forms content that is offensive, promotional or that infringes the rights of third parties.
• Not extract the content in bulk or by automated means in order to republish it, nor take actions that damage or overload the website.

We review owners' reports before publishing them and may reject any that do not meet these terms. We may modify the website and these terms when necessary; the version in force is the one published on this page.

The texts, design, logo and database of MotorFiable belong to its owner or are used with permission. You may quote short extracts with a link to the source page. To reproduce substantial parts you need our written authorisation.

The brands, models and names of vehicles, engines and spare parts that appear on the website belong to their respective owners. We mention them only to identify the products we are discussing; this does not imply any relationship with those companies or that they sponsor us.

The publications we cite belong to their authors. We link to them and summarise their content in our own words, without reproducing them.

The information on MotorFiable is for general guidance and does not replace a professional's diagnosis. Every car is different: its maintenance, use and history affect how and when a fault appears. Before repairing or buying a car, consult a garage or the brand's official service centre.

Repair costs are indicative ranges including VAT. They may vary depending on the garage, the region, the price of parts and the condition of the car. Owners' reports reflect individual experiences.

We review the content regularly and each page states when it was last reviewed, but we cannot guarantee that it is free of errors or always up to date. We are not responsible for decisions taken on the basis of this information alone. If you spot an error, let us know and we will correct it.

The services you request through the website (quotes, warranties, reports or legal advice) are provided by each partner under their own responsibility and their own terms.

The scores, risk indices and car and engine rankings are the result of applying a public method to faults documented in cited sources and to official inspection data. They express a reasoned assessment of that information, not the result of our own tests or a claim about the condition of a particular unit. The full method, with all its rules, is set out in how we work.

Product rankings reproduce the position and the rating each product received in third-party tests, which are cited and linked; the ratings belong to those who carried out the tests. Product photos are taken from the official websites of their manufacturers, linked and credited; if you own an image and would prefer it not to appear, write to us and we will remove it.

Manufacturers, importers and brands can ask us to correct a figure or to add their documented position, as explained in right of reply.

The website links to third-party sources and shops. We do not control their content or accept responsibility for it, or for their privacy or cookie policies. If you find a link to unlawful or inappropriate content, write to us and we will remove it.
