The most reliable car brands
Average score of each brand's models with solid evidence (engines, gearbox, suspension, brakes, electronics and the rest of the car), out of 10. Each generation counts as one model, and only brands with at least 3 analysed models are included.
Among the 32 brands with at least 3 models backed by solid evidence, Suzuki and Cupra tie for the best average score (6.7/10); they are followed by Mitsubishi (6.6) and Nissan (6.5). The one with the lowest average score is Citroën (5.2/10). Differences between brands are smaller than between models: within every brand there are very reliable cars and engines, and others best avoided.

How it is calculated and what it does not tell you
It is the simple average of the MotorFiable Score of each analysed model of the brand, not weighted by sales. We started with the best-selling models in Spain, so the average depends on which models have been analysed: a brand with few models can rise or fall as others are added. Each car's score comes from its documented, sourced faults, weighting severity and frequency. Full methodology
