Mercedes-Benz EQA and EQB: motores eléctricos and baterías de 69,7 a 73,9 kWh · Mercedes-Benz
Which Mercedes EQA / EQB versions should you buy?
Our verdict for each version, based on the documented faults.
- With caution
EQA 250, 300 4MATIC and 350 4MATIC, 69.7 kWh (2021-present)
since 2021 · 190–292 hp
The battery recalls (2025 and 2026) cover EQAs built between 2021 and July 2024 without distinguishing versions: check the chassis number and which measure was applied.[1][2][3]
- With caution
EQA 250+, 73.9 kWh, 190 hp (2022-present)
since 2022 · 190 hp
According to electrive, this is the version affected by the 2026 battery replacement; until it is done, Mercedes limits charging to 80%.[3][6]
Buy: No known serious faults, or they have already been corrected, in this version. With caution: Worth buying if something specific is verified: history, a replaced part or a completed campaign. Avoid: High risk of a serious fault that is hard to check for or prevent.
Known faults of the Mercedes EQA / EQB
Sorted from most to least important (severity × frequency).
- 1Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalTraction batteryInternal short circuit in the high-voltage battery: fire risk, software update and battery replacementYes: Mercedes has launched two recalls over a possible internal short circuit in a battery cell of the EQA (and EQB), with a risk of fire. The 2025 one updated the battery software; the 2026 one plans to replace the battery. In the meantime, Mercedes recommends not charging above 80% and parking outdoors.
- 2Critical severityFrequency: RarePower electronicsDisplaced pyrofuse housing: possible pyrotechnic fuse failure and loss of powerIn 2024 Mercedes recalled 5,750 vehicles, including the EQA and EQB, built between 18 June and 18 July 2024: the pyrofuse housing may shift and damage cables, and the pyrofuse could fail to operate in a crash or cause a high-voltage fault with a sudden loss of power.
