The best all-season tyres of 2026 according to the tests
This ranking brings together the results of independent all-season tyre tests published between 2023 and 2026 by the ADAC (which ÖAMTC and TCS also publish), Auto Bild, auto motor und sport, Auto Zeitung and Auto Express. Each test is run in one specific size, so each position applies only to that size and that year. MotorFiable does not add ratings of its own: it only collects the positions and grades each test published, and for Auto Bild's tests only the finalists of a pre-selection are ranked. In most of its tests Auto Bild states which manufacturers supported them, a detail worth checking in the original.
According to 19 tests independent tests from ADAC, Auto Bild, auto motor und sport, Auto Zeitung and Auto Express, the best all-season tyres are the Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3 (10.0/10), the Goodyear Vector All Season 4 (10.0/10) and the Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2 (9.2/10). The score summarises the position each one achieved in those tests; it is not our own test.

What to look for when buying
- Check the size and speed rating before trusting a result: tests apply to the size tested and, according to the ADAC, only carry over to other sizes within very tight tolerances for width, profile and rim size.
- If you are going to drive in countries with winter tyre requirements, look for the alpine symbol (a three-peak mountain with a snowflake, 3PMSF) on the sidewall: according to the ADAC, since 1 October 2024 the M+S marking on its own no longer counts as a winter tyre in Germany.
- Do not choose on the EU tyre label alone: the ADAC warns that it does not necessarily reflect the overall wet performance shown in its tests.
- Check the result for the specific model, not just the brand: in the ADAC 2026 test the Bridgestone Weather Control A005-evo was rated ‘poor’ and the ADAC advises against buying it, and in 2025 the Barum Quartaris 5 and the Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ were rated ‘sufficient’.
- Consider lifespan as well as price: the ADAC calculated that you would need to buy two sets of the Superia Ecoblue2 4S to match the roughly 68,000 km expected from the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 in 225/45 R17.
- Check the manufacturing date (DOT code): the ADAC advises against buying tyres more than three years old and recommends replacing winter and all-season tyres when the tread drops to around 4 mm.

Frequently asked questions
Which all-season tyre comes out best in the tests?
It depends on the size and the test, and no model wins every time. The Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 came first in the ADAC test in 205/55 R16 (2024) and shared first place in 225/45 R17 (2025) with the Continental AllSeasonContact 2, which in turn came first in the ADAC test in 185/65 R15 (2026). In Auto Bild 2026, the Goodyear Vector All Season 4 won in both 225/45 R17 and 225/55 R18, and in 195/55 R16 auto motor und sport put the Continental first. Always check the result for your size.
Is a test carried out in a different size useful for my car?
Only as a rough guide. The ADAC says its results can be applied to other sizes if the width differs by no more than 10 mm, the profile by no more than 5 points, and the rim diameter and construction type are the same; in addition, results for tyres with a speed rating of V or higher do not apply to lower speed ratings. Auto Bild warns that its results for other sizes only serve as a general indication of the quality of the model.
Can I drive on all-season tyres in winter?
It depends on the country. According to the ADAC, in Germany an all-season tyre only counts as a winter tyre if it carries the alpine symbol (3PMSF): since 1 October 2024, the M+S marking alone is no longer enough. In Austria, a winter tyre or an all-season tyre suitable for snow or ice is required between 1 November and 15 April, with at least 4 mm of tread on radial tyres; and in French mountain departments, from 1 November to 31 March, only tyres carrying the alpine symbol count as winter tyres. If you travel abroad, check the rules for each country.
How long do all-season tyres last?
It varies widely by model and size. The ADAC estimated around 68,000 km for the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 in 225/45 R17, 41,300 km for the Continental AllSeasonContact 2 in 185/65 R15 and 32,400 km for the Milever All Season Versat MC545 in that same size. Auto Bild extrapolated between 53,300 and 78,200 km from 13,000 km of driving in its 2026 test in 225/45 R17.
Are they as good as a summer or winter tyre?
Analysis by the Spanish consumer group OCU indicates that they are worse than summer tyres in good weather and worse than winter tyres in the cold. The ADAC describes them as a compromise: it advises separate summer and winter tyres if you do a lot of motorway driving or drive in heat with heavy loads, and sees all-season tyres as suitable for drivers who mainly use minor roads, in mild climates, or who have a second car that covers few kilometres.
How it is calculated
We do not test products or give our own scores: we collect the results published by independent tests (motoring clubs, consumer associations and magazines with their own measurements). In each test, the first product scores 10 and the last scores 0, in proportion to its position; a product’s score is the average of its tests from the last 3 years. A test repeated by several organisations counts only once. No brand pays to appear, and shop commissions do not change the order. Full methodology
