Astra Electric: communication fault between control units that can make the car move backwards (2023) on the Stellantis e-CMP (e-208, Corsa-e, ë-C4…)
In 2023 Opel recalled 1,466 Astra L Electrics because a communication fault between the engine control unit and the body control unit misread the immobiliser data, and the car could move in reverse when pulling away on a slope.[1]
Why this rating?
Critical severity: It can destroy the engine or gearbox, or affects safety.
Frequency rare: A preventive campaign limited to the Astra L Electric built between March and August 2023 (843 units in Germany), fixed with software; the fault was detected in internal quality checks and no accidents are recorded.[1]
Symptoms
- When pulling away on a slope, the car moves in the opposite direction to that intended until the driver brakes.[1]Electronic warnings: other faults that cause it · Monitor
