Stellantis e-CMP: motor síncrono de 100 and 115 kW and baterías de 50 a 75 kWhCharging

On-board charger and charging port: AC charging refused or interrupted on the Stellantis e-CMP (e-208, Corsa-e, ë-C4…)

Owners of the e-208, e-2008, Corsa-e, ë-C4 and 600e mainly cite faults with the on-board charger, the cable lock or the charging port, which stop AC charging even when the battery is healthy.[1][2][3]

Why this rating?

Medium severity: It can leave you stranded or get worse if ignored, without destroying the engine.

Frequency occasional: On Fiches-auto.fr, 6 of the 21 owner reports for the 136 hp e-208, 3 of 12 for the e-2008 and 2 of 4 for the ë-C4 mention the charger or charging port, and the same issue also appears on the Corsa-e and 600e. These are voluntary opinions on the same website, with no fleet figures; L’argus adds that a 2022 campaign sometimes required the charger to be replaced. On that basis we rate it ‘occasional’.[1][2][4][5][6]

Symptoms

Why it happens

The on-board charger converts mains AC into DC; an internal fault, a communication fault with the cable, or a fault in the charging port locking actuator can stop charging, according to Fiches-auto.[2][3]

In the 2022 high-voltage power-cut campaign, Stellantis said the on-board charger or the DC-DC converter sometimes had to be replaced, which links it to the car’s power electronics.[6]

If it is not repaired: The car cannot be charged at home or at slow chargers until it is repaired; DC rapid charging may still work, so the car can be used on journeys with rapid chargers.[1][3]

Includes: Diagnosis and replacement of the on-board charger or of the charging port locking actuator at an official dealer.[1][3]

No published tariff in the sources consulted. Within the manufacturer’s warranty, the brand covers it; we have not verified from an open source the exact terms of the battery and drivetrain warranty.

Prices in Spain, including VAT. A workshop hour costs on average €38–66 at independent garages and €77–134 at dealerships in Spain, depending on the region and the brand. How we calculate costs

How to check for it before buying a used car

  • Do a full AC charge (wallbox or slow charger) and another DC charge, and check that the cable lock releases and closes again.[1][3]
  • Ask for the history of the 2022 high-voltage power-cut campaign (e-208/e-2008/Corsa-e/DS 3 E-Tense built 2019-2020) and whether the charger was replaced.[6]
  • Check how much battery and drivetrain warranty remains.

How to prevent it

  • If the car refuses to charge, try another cable and another charging point before going to the workshop: the cause may lie outside the car.[3]
  • Keep the charging port dry and clean; moisture in the connector is cited as a cause.[3]

Recalls, campaigns and claims

As of 30 October 2026, we have no record of recalls, campaigns or extended manufacturer warranties for this fault. Check with an official dealer using the chassis (VIN) number: they will tell you whether the car has any outstanding campaign.

What owners say

Frequently asked questions

Why won’t my e-208 charge at home but works at a rapid charger?

DC rapid charging does not go through the AC on-board charger. If it fails only on AC, owner reports point to the charger, the cable lock or the port; try another cable before replacing parts.[1][3]

Is the charger covered by the battery warranty?

We have not been able to verify this from an open source; ask an official dealer, depending on the age of the car and the terms of your warranty.[1]

Is this an e-208-only problem?

No: Fiches-auto also lists it on the e-2008, Corsa-e, ë-C4 and 600e, which share the drivetrain.[2][3][4][5]

What can you do now?

We will put you in touch with a partner only if you authorise it in the form.
