  2. If you notice signs of regeneration (a fan that keeps running after switching off, higher idle, a different exhaust sound, Start/Stop disabled), do not switch the car off: carry on for about 15 or 20 minutes on a main road.[2][10]
  3. Get onto a main road and drive for a while at 2,300-2,500 rpm in a lower gear than usual. Do not try to open or clean the filter yourself.[2]
  4. If the light stays on, ask a garage for a forced regeneration with a diagnostic scanner and have them read the fault codes to rule out sensors, EGR or injectors.[2][3][9]
