Seat belts

Seat belts include the belt itself, the buckle, the anchorage to the body, the pyrotechnic pretensioner that tightens it in a crash and the buckle sensors. The documented defects are usually manufacturing ones (anchorages, buckles, pretensioners) and are corrected with recalls.

What to do

If a buckle does not latch properly, the belt does not retract or the seat belt warning comes on for no reason, have it checked: it is a basic safety item and is also checked at the ITV (the periodic technical inspection in Spain). Use the VIN to check for outstanding campaigns.
