Is the BMW B58 reliable?

The B58 (3.0 turbo straight-six, since 2015) is considered robust and less troublesome than the N54/N55 it replaced, and the sources do not document widespread internal failures. The known faults are on the periphery: the plastic oil filter housing, crankcase ventilation, gaskets and coolant. On units built before 2021 there are also US reports of an oil pump with a plastic housing.[1][2][3][4]

Is the 2.0 and 3.0 Ingenium gasolina reliable?

The petrol Ingeniums (2.0 with 200 to 300 hp and the 3.0 six-cylinder with mild hybridisation) have a considerably better reputation than the diesel, but very little data has been published. We have only been able to document chain noise on some 2.0 engines, with no serious faults or campaigns.[5][6][7]
