The DVSA, with the same reference, describes it as non-conforming steering knuckles.
- Medium severityFrequency: CommonSuspensionWear of the upper shock absorber mounts and front axle ball jointsIt is a known weak point: the 2025 TÜV report on commercial vehicles highlights frequent complaints about the Ducato's front axle, and promobil places it, with the Boxer and Jumper, above average for springs, shock absorbers and axle suspension. CAT cites the upper mounts and the ball joints.
- Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionFront suspension arms: fixing bolts and ball joint broken by corrosionYes: Opel's KN4 recall covers Zafira Life vehicles built between 23 September 2020 and 30 June 2022, because the fixing bolts and the ball joint of the front arms may break through corrosion. There are 76,778 vehicles in total across several models.
- High severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionRear suspension spring with a poorly welded centraliser (April 2021)Only in a very small batch: Opel recalled 371 vehicles (Zafira Life and Vivaro) built between 15 and 21 April 2021, because the centring pivot of the rear spring may be poorly welded and the spring could come loose.
- Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionShock absorber bolts wrongly tightened several times (recall AMA8)Only on very specific units: recall AMA8 affects Macans built in January and February 2021 (159 cars worldwide according to the Safety Gate), on which some bolted shock absorber connections may have been wrongly tightened several times, with a risk of unstable driving. The bolts are replaced and, at the front, the mounts too.
- High severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionFront axle control arm bolts and other parts out of standard specification (recall AH11)A Safety Gate alert from February 2019 (recall AH11) covers Macans built in 2014-2015 that might not meet the standard specifications in safety assemblies; the alert cites as examples the seats, the front axle control arm bolts and brake components. It does not detail the remedy or the number of cars.
- Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionSuspension bolts and arms out of specification on the first Taycans (recalls AMA3, AMB2 and AMC3)Yes, in specific batches from 2020 and 2021: three recalls cover Taycans with poorly tightened suspension threaded connections (AMA3), the front right lower arm out of specification (AMB2) and badly fitted rear arm connections (AMC3), which the Safety Gate links to arms that could come loose and cause a loss of stability.
- High severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionFront air spring retaining ring incorrectly fitted (loss of suspension air)Yes, on specific units: two recalls (ANB8 in 2022-2023 and ASA6 in 2025) cover Taycans whose front air spring may have the upper retaining ring badly made or badly fitted, with air escaping from the suspension and altered handling. The springs are checked and, if necessary, replaced or the ring is reworked.

- Medium severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionLeaking FlexRide adaptive dampersgebrauchtwagenberater.de identifies as a known problem that the dampers of the FlexRide adaptive chassis lose their seal at around 150,000 km; in Germany they cost €400–500 each, with refurbished alternatives.Appears at around 150,000 km
- Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionDefective front right wheel carrier due to a manufacturing fault (recall ARA1)Yes, but it affects very few units: recall ARA1 from 2024 covers Panamera of the 970 series built between July 2009 and June 2016 whose front right wheel carrier may have a manufacturing defect and break. According to the DVSA, the defective part was fitted during repairs at a Porsche centre and affected only 3 cars in the UK.
- Medium severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionLeaks in the air suspension shock absorbers and compressor wearOn Panameras fitted with air suspension, owner reports and a technical article cite air shock absorbers that lose air or fail, and a compressor that becomes noisy and struggles to raise the car. There is no official recall: the data consists of owner reports and a workshop article, with no euro prices.
- Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionRecall: the lower front shock absorber ball joint nut may lose tensionVolvo recalled the S60, S80 and V70 in January 2004 because the nut joining the lower ball joint of the front shock absorber to the suspension arm could lose tension due to an out-of-specification tolerance. It was corrected with a modified nut (DVSA R/2004/012; 9,735 vehicles in the United Kingdom).
- Medium severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionWear of the suspension wishbones and shock absorber top mounts on the front axleGebrauchtwagenberater identifies the front axle as the big weak point of the 2000-2007 V70: faulty wishbones (Querlenker) and shock absorber top mounts (Domlager) are «not a rarity». It also points to frequent wear of the wheel bearings.
- Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionFront suspension springs incorrectly seated in part of the late-2021 productionfiches-auto.fr documents a 2022 campaign on certain Mokka Bs built in November 2021 in which the front suspension spring could be incorrectly positioned, with a risk of corrosion and, eventually, the spring breaking with loss of steering ability.
- High severityFrequency: RareSuspensionFaulty bolting of the suspension arm (built February 2021)A 2021 recall affected 24 Mokkas built between 11 and 24 February 2021: the bolting of a control arm may have been faulty and could compromise stability.
- Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionRisk of cracks in the rear axle crossmember (two campaigns: 2019 and 2022)Opel has recalled the Crossland X twice for the same weak point: the rear axle crossmember can crack because the steel is not hard enough, first on 2019 units and again on 1,109 units built between 26 May and 15 June 2022.
- Low severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionSprings, shock absorbers, headlights and brake discs flagged by the TÜVAccording to the TÜV as reported by Gebrauchtwagenberater.de, the Crossland X fails more often than usual on springs, shock absorbers, headlights and brake discs.
- Low severityFrequency: RareSuspensionCreaking in the steering from the upper shock absorber mountsGebrauchtwagenberater.de cites a loud creak when turning the steering wheel as an early problem on the Crossland X, caused by the upper shock absorber mounts, which could only be resolved by replacing them.
- Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionCorrosion of the front suspension arms (2012 recall)Yes: in 2012 a recall was issued for 2002-2003 Elantras because the front suspension arms can corrode from the inside until they weaken and break, with a risk of losing directional control. In Germany the repair, which keeps the healthy arm or replaces the damaged one, is free and takes one hour.
- Low severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionWear of the anti-roll bar links, lower arm bushes and front shock absorber mountsAccording to a press review of the used Elantra XD, the first suspension parts to give up are usually the anti-roll bar links, the rear bush of the front lower arm and the shock absorber mounts; most of the original components lasted between 60,000 and 100,000 km, and the warning sign is noise, which appears with very little wear.Appears at around 60,000 km
- Critical severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionCorrosion of the rear suspension armsIt does exist: Britain's DVSA recalled Trajets (and Santa Fes) built between 2000 and 2004 because corrosion could weaken the rear arms until they broke and affect steering control. The check measures the thickness of the metal and either applies wax or replaces the arms.
- Low severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionPremature wear of the upper front shock absorber mountsAccording to German Wikipedia, the upper front shock absorber mounts on the Trajet were not adapted to the MPV's greater weight and wear out early, with dull knocks when turning the steering wheel. It usually affects the left side more, where a rainwater drainage channel can drip onto the mount.
- High severityFrequency: OccasionalSuspensionCracks in the rear subframe mountingsOn the oldest cars (before March 2000, according to gebrauchtwagenberater.de), cracks can appear at the points where the rear subframe is mounted to the body, especially on six-cylinder versions; BMW offered a preventive resin sealing as an alternative to a full repair.
- Medium severityFrequency: CommonSuspensionWear of the suspension bushes, ball joints and bushingsWith mileage, the suspension arm bushes, ball joints and bushings wear and cause vibrations, noises and less precise steering; fiches-auto.fr describes it as very recurrent between 60,000 and 180,000 km.Repair (garage): €300–€600Appears at around 60,000 km
