How it works and why it fails
Tailgate, bonnet and bodywork parts
Under this label we group faults in moving or external bodywork parts: tailgate gas struts, bonnet catches, door handles, trim, spoilers or engine undertrays. Several have been corrected with recalls because a part could come loose while driving.
What to do
If the tailgate will not stay open, replace the gas struts: they can drop suddenly. Check that the bonnet is properly closed after any service and look up your car's campaigns with the VIN.
